YELP Yelp

Is there a platform out there where we can Yelp about Yelp?  People use yelp like it’s their bible to find out info on companies, trades etc.  Don’t you realize it is a forum for miserable people to hear themselves speak?  How many times have you actually taken the time to go on Yelp to write a good review?  Probably never.   Not to mention, the whole methodology of Yelp is BS.  When we first opened up Tutor Time in Melville, we had a lunatic mother who complained about ridiculous things she noticed in the school.  We were not even opened yet.  She was just on a tour.As hungry as we were to get enrollment, we told her we were not the right fit for her.   By the time she got into her car in the parking lot, there it was.  A scathing review of our school, we tried forever to get Yelp to take it down as it was not a valid review.  They wanted no part of it.  Three years later, the review remains.  One day a representative from Yelp came in to sell me ad space.  I told him of our frustrations with his company and he proceeded to tell me that if I advertised with him, he could make it disappear.    Realizing that this deceitful practice was bordering on dealing with the Mafia, I asked him to leave.

I am sure this happens time and time again, bored, self absorbed people ruining hard working peoples’ businesses, when most of the time, the reviews have 2 sides to the story.  So the next time you need to look up a review, remember that Yelp has no standards and that they have full control over what is printed on their site.  I would like to Yelp about this, but I am sure Yelp would not approve it.

SLOW DOWN: SCHOOL IN SESSION

Ok, I get it. Driving by a school zone at excessive speeds is lunacy. The children are in danger every time we speed by. However, has anyone stopped to think that we are giving our perverts in society a license to legally go by our schools at 10 mph so they can selectively pick out their next victims. Now that’s lunacy. Maybe we should just hire them as crossing guards.
